Fallen trees disappearing but damage remains

Workers removed the last fallen tree on our block the other day, exposing the damage to the window and second floor of the building. The DC government has been good about getting downed trees that had grown in tree boxes (city property) removed, but it will take a long time for residents and their property to fully recover from this disaster.

All those trees that fell during the storm will no longer provide shade to cool the surrounding air. V

Good to see the cleanup is progressing but what a discouraging impact.

The neighborhood will look very different without those big old trees.

All those beautiful old trees gone... how sad. Home repairs will happen more quickly than trees will regrow. How sad all around.

A fine image of the progress, I guess things could have been worse.

I lost parts of my roof in a windstorm a few years ago. It’s such an expensive hassle. I hope everything goes smoothly. V

It's not just the loss of personal property that is disheartening, it is also the loss of those beautiful trees. Moreover, many of these homes will be a lot hotter in the summer now that they are no longer shaded. Very sad.

What a saga to witness of how nature can be brutal, but it looks like the cleanup is happening.

So sad to see so many trees down and the extent of the damage.

At least some trees survived so you still have some shade and greenery.
