Beginning of the Eruption

Kilauea began to erupt the first evening we were on Hawaii. Both active vents were glowing brightly, spitting lava bombs. Lava flowed intermittently from the far vent into the caldera. There was a full moon and trade winds blowing overcast and fog across the summit.
