The Southern Transcon railway line

Bridge Petrified Forest Road (Route 66), Navajo County, AZ view map

The railway line is the Southern Transcon Line, originally built in the 1880s by the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. Today, the line is owned and operated by the BNSF Railway (Burlington Northern Santa Fe). Dozens of double-stacked freight trains run here daily, but national railway company Amtrak also uses this same track.
The bridge (1934) is located on Route 66, which runs through Petrified Forest National Park here.
