À l'insu de son mari, Bertha Benz — l'épouse de Benz — et leurs deux fils adolescents entreprirent en 1888 le premier long trajet à bord d'une version améliorée de la voiture, reliant Mannheim à Pforzheim, sa ville natale. Grâce à ce voyage aller-retour de 180 kilomètres, Bertha Benz démontra au monde entier la viabilité du véhicule motorisé.
En 1894, Benz lança la première production automobile en série au monde, avec quelque 1 200 unités construites pour la vente. ~VVVVV+~

Without her husband's knowledge, Bertha Benz—Benz's wife—and their two teenage sons undertook the first long-distance journey in 1888 aboard an improved version of the car, traveling from Mannheim to Pforzheim, her hometown. Thanks to this 180-kilometer round trip, Bertha Benz demonstrated the viability of the motorized vehicle to the entire world.
In 1894, Benz launched the world's first mass production of automobiles, with some 1,200 units built for sale. ~VVVVV~
