The Centre Stage

Higashiyama, Kyoto, Japan view map

This is the Centre Stage of Yasaka-jinja (A Shinto Shrine in Gion, Kyoto). This stage is often used for weddings and occasionally Geisha dances. The photos which were used to create this image were captured during the 2017 Higashiyama Hanatouro.

This image is made from 3 photos (-1EV, OEV, +1EV) captured with a Nikon D700, mounted on a sturdy tripod. Technical corrections and noise reduction was performed on each image in DxO PhotoLab and exported as TIFs, before the 3 TIFs where merged in Luminar Neo using the HDR Tool and some adjustments performed before the final image was finished off in the Gimp.

Please Note as of March 2, 2026: I’ve decided to slowly add some more images taken post 2016 just to fill out this gallery with additional sites of this event. I’ve now graduated from Seminary with a Graduate Diploma of Divinity and am working full time in a Software Development role. Currently based in Perth, Western Australia, I’ve been slowly going through my photos captured during my life in Kyoto (2008 to 2019) and re-editing some of them with updated tools.
