Steropodon

One of the oldest egg-laying mammals, likely related to the platypus. It lived in forested habitats in what is now eastern Australia. The model was made with palm fiber, Marsdenia fruit, pine cone scales, wisteria seeds and driftwood.

Taken at the US Botanic Garden’s annual holiday display, this year titled ‘Season’s Greenings: Dino-Mite!’. Model trains run on several tracks around the exhibit area.

None of us has seen what this animal looked like, but we may all agree that it looks so real, Salute to the artist(s) who created this, even with the eye expression so vivid. Thanks to Helen for your wonderful captures and sharing them. ~VVVVV~
