Triceratops

This dinosaur had three large horns that were likely used as defense against predators as well as for fighting members of its own species. It was a herbivore and lived in the present-day western North America. The model was made with cork oak bark, horse chestnut bark, various fruits, willow, coconut bamboo rhizome and other plant materials.

Taken at the US Botanic Garden’s annual holiday display, this year titled ‘Season’s Greenings: Dino-Mite!’. Model trains run on several tracks around the exhibit area.
