Bishop Burchard of Worms was the author of a canon law collection of twenty books known as the Decretum.
This extensive twenty-book collection of canon law, compiled between roughly 1008 and 1012, became a fundamental and widely-consulted legal handbook for the Church throughout the 11th and 12th centuries.
