With its walls clad in multicolored stucco marble, this room, where the halberds of the Hartschier (bodyguard of the Bavarian kings) are displayed,
is reminiscent of the "Salle des Gardes" in Versailles. The pictures above the doors and the three large paintings depict campaigns of Louis XIV;
the ceiling fresco depicts the "Triumph of Mars."
The New Herrenchiemsee Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since summer 2025.
King Ludwig II of Bavaria had the palace built in 1878 as a "Temple of Fame"
for the French "Sun King" Louis XIV and as a replica of the Palace of Versailles.
