Great Blue Herons have a wingspan of 6 feet and can fly at speeds of up to 55 kilometres (20 to 30 miles) per hour. During flight, they often have their neck folded in an "S" shape and their legs extended. When preparing to land, they extend their necks and dangle their legs.
