This photo conveys to me the community excitement that surrounds the 1000 mile sled dog race each year. This musher was such a crowd favorite and is someone I have watched for a number of years on the reality show Life Below Zero. His name is Jesse Holmes and he actually won the race this year in just under 10 days. Due to a lack of snow in the Anchorage area this year there was a Ceremonial Start to the 2025 Iditarod race. The actual race then started from Fairbanks. As a fundraiser for local charities people could pay to ride with the mushers through the streets.
