We were about 30 feet away from this iceberg, circling around, when suddenly it calved. An upper shelf fell off, splashing us a bit and sending a small wave towards us. After an instant of stunned shock, Joe quickly steered us away and as he did, the rest of the iceberg just crumbled and collapsed in on itself. We were all a bit shocked. Even Expedition Team member Joe said it was "epic" and nothing he had ever seen before.
