At the base station, alongside the gondola entrance, there is a window above the waiting area. The window is inscribed with... not poetry, but poetic commentary. The light is such that the window becomes a mirror for much of the day, and thus you can see your humble correspondent reflected, taking a shot of said commentary.

The passage is attributed to Marco Missiroli, who is an Italian author. I was a little surprised about that since he's relatively young (born 1981) to have a public inscription like this, but the words seem apposite:
"I was suffering from dizziness;
