On the left are 3 samples of all Dekton "Awake" https://www.statecollegedistributors.com/dekton/awake
The Dekton showroom didn't have any big samples, so they gave us 3 little ones. I like how Dekton has the positives of Quartz, plus is heat proof. However, I'm not sure if I like the busyness of the "Awake" pattern with our fairly busy Hickory floor. I'm also somewhat reserved about adding so much grey (as in the Dekton samples) to our countertops. Nevertheless, this is the best Dekton colorway to match our cabinets and flooring. The biggest positive about Dekton over Quartz is that it is heat imperious; whereas Quartz fairs very poorly with heat. That fact is keeping this Dekton sample in the running.
The large sample on the right is a Cambridge Quartz. I don't remember the name, but I think it's too plain. Although part of the Luxury Collection, that's out.
The tiny sample on top of it is also a Cambridge Quartz named "Inverness Gold" https://www.cambriausa.com/content/cusa/us/en/quartz-countertops/quartz-colors/designs/inverness-gold.html
I wish the sample of "Inverness Gold" was bigger for me to see because this could be a serious possibility. But I think I may still prefer "Brittania Cool Gold" https://www.cambriausa.com/content/cusa/us/en/quartz-countertops/quartz-colors/designs/brittanicca-gold-cool.html That is not in this image, but the sample is in the previous shot. I like the motion from the swirls of golden brown on white.
Still, I'm not completely sure which one of the two Quartz possibilities I prefer.
In this photo is also a tiny sample of Kohler's "Aspen Green" for our new kitchen sinks. Green is the hottest colorway for 2024. The soft green tone of Aspen Green goes well with our cherry cabinets, hickory floors, and terracotta backsplash (which I'm keeping because I like these tiles). However, "Aspen Green" is a little "duller" & less "mint green" than what I would have preferred.
It seems like perfection is hard to find. I really don't want a white sink. The green will add a pop of color to all the wood in the room and also tie into the kitchen wallpaper. Ten years from now, a colored sink may again be out of fashion. But I like color.
Decisions. Decisions. I need to make a decision soon because I want the work done before we reach Thanksgiving and the holiday season.
