A quartz countertop sample, that I like, sits on top of our current "old fashioned" tile countertop.

I was originally considering Cambria's Brittanicca Gold Warm", but that looked different in the Cambria showroom than in real life than it did on-line. Gold Cool will much better match the new Hickory Floor and the old Cherry wood cabinets; plus, with the other older elements (such as our backsplash) that I want to keep in the kitchen.
From Cambria
"Brittanicca Gold Cool™ by Cambria design features flowing, multihued streams of copper gold, fog, and translucent greige. These colors course through the design, accompanied by wisps and ribbons of warm earth tones against a crisp, cool background. Cambria quartz is known for being nonabsorbent, stain-resistant, durable, and easy to clean. Plus, it comes with an industry-leading transferable Full Lifetime Warranty."
When asked AI's "opinion" about this selection and the other elements of my kitchen, I got:
"Brittanicca Gold Cool by Cambria will add a luxurious touch to your space, complementing the rich tones of cherry cabinets and the natural warmth of hickory floors. The cool background of the countertop will provide a nice contrast to the warm wood tones, creating a balanced and elegant look."
Of course, I don't fully trust AI with who knows where it gets its info.
But it was interesting to read what it had to say. During the past couple of months, I've personally done a tremendous amount of on-line research and now have gotten in-person several quartz samples to live with for two weeks in my home in different light. At this point, Brittanicca Gold seems to be my best option based on its cool background coloring and the wide swirl of sparkling reddish gold to add interest to the quartz slab: https://www.cambriausa.com/quartz-countertops/quartz-colors/designs/brittanicca-gold-cool
However, before I make any final decision on the countertop, I want to first go to the Kohler store to get a take-home color sample of their sinks to put against the quartz samples I have. For the quartz installers to measure or do anything, they need to know sink and any other cut-out size details. And I won't know that until I can decide on a colorway on a specific sink. Right now, I have my eye on a Kohler Cast Iron, colored sink. I don't want any more stainless steel in the kitchen.
Remodeling isn't easy. First, there are decisions to make, and then, the work has to be done. The counters will be a significant job since the countertop underlayment will need to be first replaced. Our builder "cheaped out" on us when he did the original underlayment, and there is notable moisture damage that will require the old surface (underneath the current tile) to be replaced.
Meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy the fact that perhaps I have found the countertop that I will be happy with, after the underlayment is redone. The slab in the showroom was much prettier than this small sample. The sample just gives me some idea of coloration.
