Thanks for posting this because it brought back long forgotten memories from my youth. I grew up between 2 Indian reservations and a 3rd not far away up on the Nebraska border.

I went to school, hung out with and played sports with plenty of Indian friends. Seeing this reminded me that I testified in court on a wrongful death lawsuit one family brought against the railroad for the tragic loss of their young child on RR property. They were going to pay me a hundred dollars if they won the case. They did not prevail!

Anyway the point of my post is I know what they smoked in those “peace pipes”, after the court case was over we all gathered at their home and the pipe was loaded up, fired up and passed all around. They called it “loco weed” and I recall feeling quite euphoric afterwards. As a sign of appreciation for my help the presented me with a huge string of “peace beads”, looped out it was about 8 feet across and I cherished it. Paul

Alastair. -- nice.
I have taken to shooting more HDR +-2, during the mid day shots.
It sometimes helps. other times not.

Thanks Jim, the lighting was pretty challenging. A morning shot would have been better, but we were there with our running group (we coach in the evenings on Tuesdays). I've reprocessed it, with more shadow recovery, and replaced it.

For those of us living in the SW, and for me who just toured the Pueblos in NM, and was in Chinle AZ on Navaho Nation, I have to love and respect this.
I might have liked the shadows bumped up some, but even as is the message is clear.

This is just wonderful! Nobel, Giving, Honest, Faithful...(a bit of an initial consternation for me...this is not how Indians are seen within the larger culture...so this is also for all its nobility, Tragic). Traveller
