Today (9 Aug) is Singapore’s National Day, but they had been having these national day fireworks rehearsals every Saturday night for the past few weeks.
A big deterrent to taking photographs of these fireworks is the long wait in the hot sun required to secure a choice location for the photography …
I arrived at my selected location at Marina Bay Sands promenade around 5pm, 3 hours before the fireworks display was due to start around 8pm, but all the good vantage spots were already taken. Luckily, an elderly gentleman and a young couple were kind enough to adjust their tripods to squeeze out a space between them for me. It was a good spot, directly facing the fireworks display area, for both the aerial bursts as well as the low-level fireworks shot out from the water surface like fountains.
