TERRIFIC DEAL on this phone till December 23

Taken in mixed lighting, including bluish/purplish Christmas tree lights. Not worrying at all about overexposure which was a constant problem with my Samsung phones. Call screening is FANTASTIC! Very little I don't like about this phone. Glad I switched.

Google Pixel 8 Buyers: Get $125 Off With YouTube Premium Deal (I've had YouTube Premium for years and love it for eliminating the annoying YouTube ads.)

Google is offering a surprising short-term offer to prospective Pixel 8 buyers. The company emailed YouTube Premium subscribers this week, offering an exclusive $125 off the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Crucially, this deal code can be used in conjunction with other discounts currently available on the Google Store.

That means people can buy a Pixel 8 for $424 ($275 off) or a Pixel 8 Pro for $674 ($325 off). The deal ends on December 23rd and is only available to U.S. buyers.
The YouTube Premium Discount
Google is clearly thinking that the discount will encourage YouTube Premium subscribers to dive deeper into the company's ecosystem. This is part of a hyper-aggressive marketing strategy the company has undertaken in the last few years, which has arguably paid off with Pixel sales steadily improving.

However, there is also a decent argument to be made that Google's phones offer good value for money because the company continually adds new features, to current and older handsets, through its intermittent "feature drop" program. The latest update introduced Video Boost, which touches up your video with more color, detail, and stabilization. The Pro model can also apply the Night Sight effect, currently used on still images, to your evening time videos. That is a huge addition to a handset that already takes outstanding pictures. Google is indicating that more AI features are on the way, so there's a good chance your Pixel 8 will be a very different device in terms of abilities in the next few months.
Is This Deal Worth It?

If you are in the market for a new smartphone and are a YouTube Premium subscriber, this is definitely a good deal. You can get a Pixel 8 for almost $200 off, and the Pixel 8 Pro for almost $300 off.

However, there are some drawbacks. One is that the face unlock technology on the Pixel 8 is not very reliable. It often fails to recognize faces, and it is especially poor in low light. Also, some Pixel 8 owners have reported small bumps under the display of the handset. Google has confirmed that these bumps exist, but says that they will not have a "functional impact to the Pixel 8 performance of durability."

Is There a Better Deal?
If you are not a YouTube Premium subscriber, there are a few other deals available on the Pixel 8. For example, you can get a $50 discount if you trade in an eligible device. You can also get a $100 discount if you use the code "PHOTOS100" when purchasing a Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro from the Google Store.

Overall, the YouTube Premium discount is a good deal for Pixel 8 buyers. However, there are some drawbacks, such as the unreliable face unlock technology and the small bumps under the display. If you are n
ot a YouTube Premium subscriber, there are a few other deals available that may be better for you.
