This was a day full of Samoan culture. We spent the morning and early afternoon at the Samoan Cultural Center in Apia . There were presentations about the culture, cooking and tattooing. The highlight was the appearance if Miss Samoa who participated in the dancing. Very cool show. Of course there was a fire dance.

In the afternoon we visited Villa Vailima, the home that Robert Louis Stevenson built when he moved to Samoa (1889) for health reasons. He is loved by the Samoans because of his support for the Samoan people. He died in 1894 at age 44.

In the evening we attended another Fia Fia which was the best we have seen. There was lots of good native Samoan food. The singing and dancing was first rate. So was the fire dance. Today's photo is of Miss Samoa participating in the dancing. Her mom was Miss Samoa 23 years ago.
