Aysgarth Falls

Aysgarth is best known for its triple flight of waterfalls, carved out by the River Ure.
The river stretches out along the valley and dramatically drops 30 metres.
All three falls were featured in the films Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights.
They were also featured on the television program Seven Natural Wonders as one of the wonders of the North.
I have seen some really pretty photos of these falls and was hoping to get some good shots.
The trouble was they were almost dried up when we were there.
So my photos aren’t too spectacular.
However when the falls are flowing you don’t see people out in the middle like in this photo.
Our driver showed us a video he had taken a few weeks before.
The water was flying over those rocks.
Timing is everything!
At least we had a beautiful day.

I like the sense of scale with the people. I bet it is spectacular with the water. V

I can imagine it must be spectacular when flowing. Having the tourists on the rocks help to show the scale.

Interesting shot of these layered formations. The people checking it out add scale. "V"

a notable site, with the rock terraces quite striking, water or no water...

Too bad the water wasn't flowing...

Great look at these interesting falls, and too bad they were dry when you visited. V.
