Yesterday I mentioned that I started trying an app called Merlin (Cornell University) that can identify birds. The operation is simple, send it a photo of the bird and it tells you what it is. Well, I have roughly 7200 photos of birds in my photobase so I went looking. The question was how to get the photos into my phone to run the app. Well, that turned out pretty simple. Just put a photo of the bird in question in loupe view in Lightroom and take a picture with the iphone camera. VOILA, how easy is that. I spent quite a while playing with Merlin. It can really suck you in. Anyway, here is a composite of six among the dozens that were identified. They are brown pelican (Everglades National Park), roseate spoonbill (High Island, TX), bald eagle (Sitka, AK), raven (Zion National Park), roadrunner(Big Bend National Park) and barn swallow(LaPorte Airport). How cool is that?
