Dauphin was no stranger to hosting BCATP bases with a few in the immediate area, training Commonwealth air crew for action in WWII.
Canada had 231 such British Commonwealth Air Training Plan facilities across the country - with the Prairies and their vast flat lands and open skies favouring air training hosting most of them. Over 130000 air crew passed through these training facilities from 1940 thru to April 1945.
Of note - and a sticking point to the RAF - all Canadians that graduated the program were to wear 'RCAF' vice RAF.
This Station on the south side of Dauphin was home to No. 10 Service Flying Training School(S.F.T.S.) from 5 Mar 1941-14 Apr 1945 and this is the still standing side of one of two remaining hangars. (One still used by a roof truss building company and this one, abandoned and falling in on itself.)
