One more statue from Dauphin...and for me, not completely realizing the number of Ukrainians that came to Canada and built the West and this Country until my visit to this region.

This monument symbolizes the optimism held by the Ukrainian immigrants who settled Western Canada and the Dauphin region. The first group of trailblazers ended the final leg of their long journey here, at the Canadian Northern Railway station, with little more than basic provisions.

They braved the extreme Canadian climate, building homes, farms and communities to create lives in a new world. The relentless positive spirit embodied in these settlers and their descendants helped build this great nation.
