Queen of the Prairie - Filipendula rubra

Canaan Valley, West Virginia

Checking out some new areas we'd not visited in the 36 years we've been coming to Canaan Valley.
We followed Freeland Road to nearly the end (before it becomes 80) a small pond on the left - we parked just up the road on the right and hiked back to the pond area.

That's a very pretty flower. Canaan Valley doesn't strike me as prairie, but I can imagine it waving over prairie grass.
