I went back and played with the photos I took the other day. As I mentioned the results of a moving airplane were dismal. So I spent a lot more time really examining them and came to the conclusion that they were out of focus and motion blurred. Tough combination. I had a go at it with Topaz and actually got a photo that would be acceptable as a 4 X 6 print. The thing that really tipped me off on the motion blur was the starboard wing tip light (also an antenna eventually) which you can see on the right as a blur in the unretouched frame. I was a little surprised at that because the shutter speed was 1/640. On the left things were improved. This is a 400% magnification of the frame. Now I have some objectives for the next photography experiment: reduced motion blur and stable autofocus.
