Ledebouria socialis, commonly known as Silver Squill, is a geophytic species of a bulbous perennial plant native to the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The plant makes an interesting, colorful, and structurally unique houseplant. Although not a succulent, it has found a home with many a succulent lover's collection.
Leaves are fleshy, lance-shaped, and up to 6 inches (15 cm) long. They are bright gray-purple with green blotches above. The underside of the leaves is all purple. In spring and summer, 20 to 25 exceptionally small 2 to 3mm) 'flowers with greenish petals with white markings and purple stamens rise on delicate stalks just above the leaves.
