Thuringian State Chancellery
The building of the electoral Mainz governorship was erected as a baroque palace between 1711 and 1720 according to plans by master builder Maximilian von Welsch. For a long time, the fate of the city and the country has been decided in this house. In October 1808, for example, Goethe met Napoleon here . Since 1995 the building has housed the Thuringian State Chancellery with the seat of the Thuringian Prime Minister.
