Judges Comments

(i) Content (story, mood etc): Good capture of the shape, texture, soft colours etc that shows us the delicate qualities of this poppy, a Robert Mapplethorpe-like still life
(ii) Composition: good use of the stem to lead our eyes in the detail of the off-centred flower that balances the contrasting, black negative space
(iii) Technical (lighting etc): The lighting on the bottom part of the stem is a too bright/out of balance with the beautiful lighting on
the flower, but otherwise good depth of field, good capture of texture etc
