The Silver Maples first showed a sign of life back on February 23rd. But then, we had another cold snap that killed off those flowers. In this photo, you can see some of the dried shells of female flowers that didn't make it.
However before that most recent hard freeze, all of the flowers hadn't bloomed. More are now coming out with the unseasonably warmer weather upon us once again. It was 70 today. Sadly, this warm weather isn't here to stay. Temperatures are supposed to drop back down into the low 20's by midweek.
What will happen to these maple flowers is anyone's guess. The weather has been so erratic to accurately predict anything.
