Four days ago, the high was just in the 30's. However, it hit 60 degrees today. When I popped outside in the late afternoon/early evening, I discovered the Silver Maple trees are just starting to wake up. This is the earliest I've ever seen their flowers. Hopefully another cold snap doesn't set them back. That was what happened last year https://pbase.com/britestar/image/172456772.
The above bud cluster looks very much like the one in my 2021 March capture: https://pbase.com/image/171451636; just farther along in February this year. It may actually be the same tip of the same branch.

"Roller coaster’ weather expected in Kansas City this week as temperatures warm, then plunge"
"Tuesday, much the like the President’s Day holiday, will be pleasantly warm and sunny, with high temperatures in the low 60s, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday will be even warmer yet, with temperatures potentially hitting 70 degrees before plunging about 50 degrees within a few hours. 'Tue & Wed well above normal and Thu & Fri below normal. But for Thu, temps will drop during the AM behind a cold front with winds shifting the W & NW and gusting to 50 mph,' the weather service tweeted. Rain is expected Wednesday with the dramatic change in temperature going into Thursday & the mid-20s. Friday will be another cold one in the teens." Kansas City Star
