Java Sparrow

Lonchura oryzivora

"What? Your mother is coming for dinner?!" :0)

The Java Sparrow, also known as the Java Finch is a native bird of Java and Bali in Indonesia.

They are sought after as pet birds for their distinctive song and beautiful appearance.
Trapping for the illegal exotic cage-bird trade industry has made the attractive little bird a critically endangered species with less than 10,000 remaining.
It was introduced to O’ahu in the 1960’s and has proliferated and spread naturally to the other main islands.

Your shot is absolutely outstanding, an excellent capture of these beautiful birds. The illegal trade in exotic birds (and other creatures) is a big factor in the decline of birds such as these, and of parrots, and other sought after birds. It has to stop. V
