Bayon (XII-XIII C.)

Le Bayon comporte 54 tours de pierre (Il en subsiste 37) symbolisant des visages monumentaux du Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, bouddha de la compassion. Mais pour certains toutefois, ces visages représenteraient le roi Jayavarman VII, constructeur du Bayon. Il montrerait ainsi son omnipotence en signifiant que son regard peut voir jusqu’aux confins du Royaume. Une sorte d’ancêtre de Big Brother en somme…

The Bayon features 54 stone towers (37 remaining) symbolizing monumental faces of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, Buddha of compassion.
