Our first stop on our walking tour of Koblenz.
This is where the Rhine and the Moselle Rivers meet.
Deutsches Eck is the name of a promontory in Koblenz, Germany, where the Mosel river joins the Rhine.
Koblenz was established as a Roman military post by Drusus around 8 B.C.
Its name originates from the Latin (ad) cōnfluentēs, meaning "(at the) confluence”.
The actual confluence is today known as the "German Corner", a symbol of the unification of Germany that features an equestrian statue of Emperor William I.
This statue was huge!
Tomorrow I’ll post a photo looking the other way.
