A general strike called up by all Tamilian politicians for more support from the Indian Government
on the same level as they do to other states with highlights on free education, water support and reduced transportation prices.
That made that Madurai was on Saturday totally empty, no traffic, all shops closed, a spooky town,
no life, no noise on the otherwise always overcrowded streets. (a view in the WS)
But that made it interesting, a Saturday quiet Madurai city walk, to go for the second event in the
Meenakshi Temple: the eldest holy elephant died and the stable in the Meenakshi was crowded by
mourning people ... so I went over there to feel the atmosphere but didn't take a photo of this
mastodon while they were lifting it up to a lorry, respecting the disheartening people by the lost
of this holy animal.
Instead, life goes on, a view on a tidbit-stall inside the Meenakshi Temple, enlightened by a late sun(16:45).
