The Mercat de la Independencia is the central market of Terrassa and has traditionally been considered the most important in the city. The building is the work of municipal architects Antoni Pascual y Carretero and Melcior Vinyals y Muñoz.It was inaugurated on November 14, 1908 and its number commemorates the centenary of the beginning of the French War, also known as the War of Independence.
