More touring around in Quebec City. We started out at La Citadelle de Québec, a fortification built in the mid-1800s. Its purpose was defense against invasions particularly the Americans. One battle was fought on the adjacent Plain of Abraham in 1759 before the citadel was built. The British attacked and prevailed. Quebec became British and that was that. We had two excellent tours. One of the fort and one of Governor General's Residence. The fort is an active duty base currently under the command of the Royal 22nd Regiment, the Van Doos, a corruption of le Vingt-deuxième.
After a picnic lunch on the Plains of Abraham, we spent the afternoon at Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. What can I say. Yet another art museum. Ginny asked how I liked it, and I told her I had a positive comment. I said, "It wasn't total crap."
Today's photo was taken in the wee hours. There was quite a rain storm which woke us up. Ginny looked out the window and saw the Chateau Frontenac was illuminated. It looked sort of spooky.
