Word Photography Day is celebrated on August 19 every year to commemorate the release of Daguerreotype photography. The day is a special celebration of photography's past while also embracing modern technological advancements, and looking forward to a tremendous prospect in the future.
World Photography Day 2022: The theme for this year is "Pandemic Lockdown Through The Lens".
******************************
I chose this Bridge Camera photo as my photo for World Photography Day for two reasons.
Reason #1
Just as I was finished doing photography for the day & was ready to put my cameras away, Bella (our 3 pound Chihuahua) sounded the alarm. "Animal! Animal! Animal!!" Under the Deck! Look quick!!! Animal! Animal! Animal!!" So, I grabbed the bridge camera and ran to the deck railing and looked. Bella was right. This bunny was at the edge of the deck checking out the old hibiscus blossoms I put out in the evenings to treat the wildlife. Of course, as soon as the rabbit saw me, he was gone back under the deck and did not return.
Bella's role in my getting this impromptu photo is a moment I want to remember.
Reason #2
This subject matter also fit this year's theme.
My wildlife encounters (and photography) during Pandemic "lockdown" have been greatly restricted to whatever I can see in my yard and neighborhood... Others may be now venturing to join the crowds at America's National Parks https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jan/01/national-parks-us-tourism-crowds-busy (with 2022 being even more crowded than last Summer) or else flying off to some exotic international destination. However, I'm not "there" yet. No crowds (anywhere) for me. Not until the Pandemic is really over. So, this is still representative of "pandemic lockdown" through my lens. Bunnies; not bears.
