It was a beautiful day. The sun was out. Our destination was a fly out to Upper Twin Lakes and the site of the famous Dick Proenneke cabin. If you haven't heard of this guy, go to you tube and search the name. He made quite a splash by building this cabin and filming the process. It is worth a look. It is part of Lake Clark National Park and it is attended by a ranger during the summer. We had an interesting talk by the ranger. This guy was quite craftsman. The whole cabin and furnishings are quite good.

Although it was sunny it was rather cold. Our guide Sam directed us to a dry stream bed that was sheltered from the breeze and we had a nice lunch in the warm sun. After lunch we went to a couple other nearby cabins then launched off on a hike to Teetering Rock. You guessed it, it a a huge rock that teeters on its base so you can fairly easily get moving. Ginny was successful in getting it teetering.

On the return hike we spotted a Grizzly not far away. It turned and headed toward us then disappeared into a ravine. Sam was prepared with his .44 magnum if needed. We finished the hike and a group behind us said they could see the bear ahead of them walking down the trail in front of them and behind us. Interesting.

This was our last dinner at the Farm Lodge. We head out tomorrow for Houston. During the eight nights here we met some very interesting people, mostly travelers like us. It was a great opportunity to hear about other destinations and find out about getting to them. We also found a lot of people who have been places we have been and then we had some interesting conversations.
