I'm in Canaan Valley (3,200' elevation) and this critter was "snaking" about in a nearly dry ephemeral pool off the Freeland Road Wetlands Boardwalk.
There are two (maybe 8"and 3" )in this image; lower right corner.
Any idea of what it could be?
