aground

Fort Stevens SP, Oregon

In 1906 a steel hulled sailing vessel, the Peter Iredale, ran aground on the treacherous sand bars at the mouth of the Columbia River...nowadays only a small, skeletal, rusting section of prow is left to remind of the incident

Dan has also posted an image of the wreck this morning, an alternate view well worth checking out: https://pbase.com/dlgphoto/image/172680678

This is a haunting scene that you have captured perfectly!
I feel the reflection is most important to tell this story.

Interesting compared to Dan's shot - this one's is somber and dark - goes well with the wreck. V

Foundered and forlorn, sadness under that gloomy sky.
I love how you captured this including that wonderful reflection in
the wet shoreline.

Ok- this is way cool. Love how the diffuse light from the cloudy sky makes the rust color pop. Portrait framing worked like a charm to feature the subject and its reflection.

Very dramatic image.

Great mood and reflections in this fine capture. As soon as I saw the thumbnail I figured you had been there together.

Very dramatic! It brings forth the proper somber mood for the wreck and the weather both. ~BV~
