Carol & I did a sunset birding walk at the Canaan Valley's Freeland Road NWR Boardwalk.
As we were leaving, this sparrow was perched on the fence that marks the edge of the parking lot.
Was singing (for a mate(?)), but I initially thought immature(?). I'm not an expert with sparrow IDs and welcome any ID offers!
First ID'ed as a Song, but after getting back to Virginia and searching some sparrow references, going with Savannah.
Beautiful evening with temp falling during our hour long visit - down to 58 degrees upon returning to our cabin.
