However sometimes, having a private guide (in an unfamiliar country where you don't speak or read the language) makes doing things both easier and more efficient. Mayumi was a delight and very knowledgeable. I've used her more than once.

Walking or using public transport is the way most people get around in Tokyo. In my photo above, the train was not overly crowded and we could both find a seat. Rush hour is another matter.
