In 1953 this Blackstone dieselengine was installed with 37 HP. This engine was installed to drive the mechanical mill built next to the windmill. Today it is integrated in the windmill. When there was no wind they could use this mechanical mill for grinding. It was an evolution that for many windmills was their dead. This mechanical mills became larger and larger and complete factories were build for it. Windmills could no longer compete with this giant mills.
