Graylag Geese adults
Three adults have been among the Canada Geese at the Sinks. Native to Eurasia, these are the prototypical "barnyard" geese -- what these loud, silly birds are doing at the Sinks is anyone's guess. These were not seen in flight, but when flapping the wings seemed intact and likely can fly.
These two are included to show a few identification characteristics. These are large birds, and note the bulky shape and heavy bill and legs. I believe these are adults due to the prominent neck grooves and flank bars, and the square, white-tipped scapulars. Greater White-fronted is excluded by the size, heavy structure, pale head, and (for adults) lack of white on the face and black splotches on the belly.
