While outdoor dining these Kookaburras came down to see what we were up to.
Our delightful native is approx 30cm (12 inches ) from head to tail. Very gentle and laugh a lot.

Do not leave your BBQ unattended with them round, you will loose the lot. They work in teams to distract and raid tables etc. Very smart birds

Marvellous to see! Whilst I can see the family resemblance to Kingfishers, I see they rarely eat fish unlike ours. It seems they aren't afraid of humans when there's food around!

I remember learning the children's song about it in school- as I am writing this I realise that it was a translation of the Australian original from the 1930es.... It's a small world after all...filled with lovely things to see! ~V~
