Stick-eye Business

I have a long history with sticks
Mostly chewing them
But today one got stuck in my eye
The Lady took me to the vet to have it removed
That was bad enough but then I didn't even get to keep it
The man had to bring pizza for dinner though, so it wasn't all bad

Baldr~

Note from the man: While in the woods this morning Baldr had half of a 3-inch long, 1/2 inch diameter stick lodged in his left eye socket.
When he emerged from the underbrush you couldn't see his eyeball - just the stick protruding from his eye socket.
We don't know exactly what occurred (I wasn't home at the time) but the vet removed it and amazingly there does not appear to be any significant damage.
Although groggy from anesthesia, his appetite does not appear to be suffering too greatly.

Wow, that is some horrific sounding injury! So glad they were able to help him out. Always a worry when they are out running in the woods. He looks good here, not even squinting his eye. I imagine you're putting meds in.
I once saw a dog come into our office with his eye popped out of his socket. The doctor knocked him out, popped it back in and the dog was totally fine. Amazing the way the body can heal itself with a little help.
Be careful out there Baldr!!

He looks none the worse for the experience. Pizza is a panacea. He's a beautiful dog clearly very athletic.

What a day - glad it was taken care of quickly, and a pizza treat awaited.

Oh my, how terrible for Baldr (and you)! I'm glad to hear his eye appears to be OK and that his appetite is good, but still, what a scary experience.

he appears cool in the shade though, alert and energetic...a tough day then, but the pizza payoff may have hastened away the discomfort...a fine capture of the dog behind too..
