The magnificent Würzburg residence from the 18th century is the city's landmark. The magnificent building complex is a very fine example of late baroque architecture. During this time, palaces such as Schönbrunn in Vienna and the Palace of Versailles were built.
The residence served as the seat of the Würzburg prince-bishops. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.
