The wide Karlsplatz is a relatively new facility in Ansbach. The buildings around the square were planned as early as the 17th century, but were not built until almost a hundred years later. Today the city library, the city archive and the cultural center are located in the beautiful baroque houses. Even the police own one of these decorative buildings. The Church of St. Ludwig was built in the classical style at the beginning of the 19th century as the number of Catholics in the city increased.
