The lonely volunteer

A peony on a plant that appeared in our garden a few years ago. Last year it produced a number of beautiful blossoms, but this year only two. The rest of the buds for some reason rotted before opening.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

It’s a striking flower. I hope the others come back next year. V

yes that is very unfortunate that you only have two flowers, and that can be due to various factors, such as being too wet, giving some fertilizer, but also the maintenance of the plant and also the location, maybe next year it will be complete again, a very nice image you made Helen BV

The full blossom is for sure a colorful beauty.

Well at least a few pretty flowers. Better luck next year. Perhaps it wants some good fertilizer.

It’s a gorgeous vibrant colour - a treat even if only two blooms.

The colour is gorgeous. Such a shame you only had two blooms.

Too much rain maybe? Nevertheless, two flowers is better than none. She will be a beauty when fully open. She's a beauty now.

Like the vibrant color of that beautiful flower V!

How sad that they rotted. Could they have been hit by a frost?
