Today has been a terrible day.
Mizzie, our cat of 21 years is passing away gently.
She has hardly eaten anything in the past few days and now is just lying beside her water bowl.
The light has gone from her eyes and there is no strength in her muscles.
I picked her up and she purred, then wanted down.
I put her down and she went back to lie down beside her water bowl.
I think back to when she was a curious kitten, then a brave defender of her garden.
Running across the garden and into a bush, hotly chased by a crow.
Now she can barely walk.
